Laws governing data collection and use in the country where you are located may differ from U.S. law.  When you visit or interact with the Platforms, please note that any personal information you provide to Alcuin may be transferred to or utilized by Alcuin or its affiliates in the United States. Any such personal information provided may be processed and stored in the United States by Alcuin or a service provider acting on its behalf.

The Information Alcuin Collects and How We Collect It

Users can browse the Site without affirmatively providing personal information to Alcuin.  In those cases, certain information may be collected, as provided below.

Information You Provide

You may provide your personal information to us when you communicate with Alcuin by email or phone, complete online forms, or otherwise interact with or use the features on the Site or Platforms.  Such information may include:

  • Contact      Information. You may provide your contact information when you      communicate with us (such as your name, phone number, mailing address and      email addresses and information about why you are contacting us).
  • Demographic      information. You may choose to provide your demographic information      through the Platforms, including in person or by phone (such as your city,      state and zip code, gender, or age).

Information Collected Automatically

We may also use technical tools that automatically collect certain information about your interaction with our Site when you visit or interact with our Site, including:

  • Usage      Data. We may collect information about how Users use the Site (called      “Usage Data”), for example, by tracking the number of unique views      received by the pages of the Site, or the domains and Internet Protocol      (“IP”) addresses from which Users originate. While not all usage data that      Alcuin collects from Users is personally identifiable, it may be      associated with personal information that Users provide Alcuin through the      Site or otherwise, and in those cases we will treat such information as      personal information. Additionally, certain information regarding your      computer systems, network locations, IP address and software may be      communicated to Alcuin by the digital rights management systems associated      with certain content that you download or access via the Site in order to      prevent unauthorized use or distribution of the associated content. For      more information about how Alcuin collects Usage Data see below.       Non-personally identifiable information collected by Alcuin (such as      patterns of utilization) is exclusively owned by Alcuin and may be used as      it sees fit in accordance with applicable law.
  • Cookie      Data. Like most websites, our Site uses cookies and web log files to      track Site usage. A cookie is a tiny data file that resides on your      computer that allows Alcuin to recognize you as a User when you return to      the Site using the same computer and web browser. Like the information you      enter during account registration, cookie and log file data is used to      customize your experience on the Site. One type of cookie, known as a      “persistent” cookie, is set once you have visited the Site. The next time      you visit our Site, the persistent cookie will allow us to recognize you      as a previous User. Another type of cookie, called a “session” cookie, is      used to identify a particular visit to the Site. Session cookies expire      after a short time or when you close your web browser. You can choose to      disable cookies on your browser or allow your browser to notify you when a      cookie is being sent, however this may prevent you from utilizing certain      features of the Site.
  • IP      Addresses. Due to the communications standards on the Internet, we      automatically receive the uniform resource locator (URL) of the website      from which you came and the website to which you proceed once you leave      the Site. We also receive the IP address of your computer (or the proxy      server you use to access the World Wide Web), your computer operating      system and type of web browser you are using, as well as the name of your      Internet service provider (ISP). This information is used to analyze      overall trends to help us improve the Site. The linkage between your IP      address and your personal information is shared in accordance with this      Privacy Policy.
  • Data      from Log Files. We use log files in connection with our Site. Log      files track IP addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP),      referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of      clicks. We utilize this information to analyze trends, administer the      Site, prevent fraud, track Site navigation in the aggregate, and gather      broad demographic information for aggregate use.

Opting Out of Cookies and Tracking Technologies

You may set your web browsers to not accept new cookies or web beacons, be notified when you receive a new cookie, or disable cookies altogether. Please note that without enabling these features, your experience on the Site may not be as smooth and you will not be able to take full advantage of our Site’s features that involve web browsing. Please see the “Help” section of your web browsers for instructions on managing this security preference.
